Now that you've already learned the first 2 parts of this 5 step process we use at Core Wellness to
get your bodymind wired for wellness (see previous post), you're ready to learn about the concept of blockage release.
Basically, blockage refers to any joint that doesn't get
to feel the pleasure of adventuring into its full range of motion. In other words...it's STUCK. And let me
tell you when a joint is stuck, it deteriorates extremely fast.
You
see, your joints need movement to stay healthy. Imagine a hinge that never gets used. What happens. You
got it...it RUSTS!
That's essentially what happens to your joints as well. Except you've
probably heard it called "degenerative joint disease" or "arthritis".
And
that's not all...the other more important reason for joint movement, and especially spinal joint movement is
to balance your nervous system.
As a matter of fact, Roger Sperry won a nobel prize in
1981 by discovering that very fact. He said "90% of the stimulation and nutrition of the spine is generated by
the movement of spinal joints. This is analogous to a windmill generating electricity."
So,
blocked movement = suboptimal nervous system function.
And what is the very first system to form
in an embryo and from what system does every part of your body "sprout" from? That's right, your nervous
system.
It's no wonder I get to see "miracle" cures nearly every day in my practice.
When your joints are moving like they were designed, your nervous system functions optimally and crazy symptoms just
seem to disappear.
Heartburn, constipation, ulcers and allergies are just a few of the types
of conditions that have responded to chiropractic care.
Your bodymind's natural state is HEALTH.
It's just waiting for you to remove the blockages so it can manifest.
By the way, getting
your joints moving again with a blockage release also blocks pain, relaxes tight muscles, and improves coordination.
All three are nice side benefits, eh?
So that's step 3, Identify and eliminate Blockages.
Next post I'll talk about the importance of identifying and eliminating damaging movement patterns that cause
you to overload your joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, which places you at risk for injury and degeneration.
Until then...
Dr. Hoffman
After posting my new podcast on "tips and tricks for natural headache relief" in observance of National Headache Awareness Month where I reveal the most commonly overlooked causes of headaches,
I wanted to share with you the 5 step process I use that addresses headaches and all type of physical (and often
times, mental) problems...at the core.
So here we go...
#1
Adopt the healing mindset:
This mean creating an "active
care" mindset. It's understanding that the only way to eliminate any type of problem is to take charge of it
yourself. Active care means you are an active participant in care and that you are not turning your power over to your
doctor, therapist, or whomever you've sought out.
Knowing that you
must do your part by immersing yourself in a more healing environment when you leave the office is key.
It's simple. If you don't do your part to "rewire" your brain and nervous
system into a more balance state, then your problems will recur over and over and you'll become "dependent"
on the passive treatment.
So that's #1 - creating an INDEPENDENT, 100% responsible
mindset
#2 ID and Eliminate Muscle Imbalances...
I talked the whole first podcast and blog post about how the accumulation of life stresses creates
a very specific and reversible pattern of muscle imbalance that I call CPS or 'Crossed Posture Syndrome".
It's the "close down/protection/defense" posture with the head forward, humped back,
tight hips, etc. If you visit a nursing home you'll get the idea real fast.
When you relax the overactive muscles and "switch on" the weak, underused muscles, then the joints that lie in between
get unloaded and unstuck and your nervous system gets some pleasing input and all of a sudden you're expressing what I
call "Peace Physiology" instead of "Stress Physiology" Peace physiology is FAT BURNING physiology,
by the way.
That's right, stress makes you use sugar for fuel instead
of fat! That leaves you always craving more sugar which gets converted into fat!!
(As an aside, there are still a few spaces left for my weight loss coaching series that includes before and after consults
and body composition testing with 3 group health coaching sessions in between. click here to see how to take advantage of the introductory pricing.)
I'll continue on with the
remaining 3 in my next post! Or you can listen to the podcast and the rest of the scoop NOW!
