Important Balance Exercise From Our Urban Organic Garden

In yesterday's sogginess, I found myself really challenging my balance and flexibility as I cleaned the maple leaves off of my fall garden greens.

So I wanted to show you a GREAT move that will help you keep doing the things that you love to do for as long as you want them!

PLUS…a quick tip about picking up leaves from my landscaping boss (I call him Crazy Nick) from my summer landscaping job while I was at IU in Bloomington.

Welcome to our urban organic garden!

Challenge your balance, flexibility, and hip function and let me know what activity keeps you INSPIRED and the function that you've lost that would keep (or is keeping) you from doing it!

I read every comment and reply to as many as I can…so fire away!

GardenCast – The Healing and Calming Benefits Of Lettuce Alkaloids

What an awesome weekend here in Indiana.

I did a lot of gardening and was amazed again by all the white "sap" or latex that oozes out of lettuce when you break off the leaves.

So Rebecca and I made a GardenCast to tell about the interesting sedative effects that lettuce chemicals contain.  My searches online kept coming up with content about "Lettuce Opium".

Hmmmm…very interesting….

The Hopi tribe used to actually dry and smoke the sap before sleep to induce more lucid dream states.

But you can use the power of this amazing chemical in lettuce to calm your nerves and heal your body in the process.

This alkaloid compound also helps to block substance-P, which is the chemical that transmits the message of pain to your brain.  (I didn't mention that on the video).

But there's lots more to learn, so join us in our back yard garden for a short but very important lesson!

See you there!

Dr. Steve

P.S.  I also talked a bit about magnesium, "earthing", and meditation to be sure to check it out and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Alkaline Garden Casts – Why Are We Here, No Till Gardening, Greens, and Horse Manure

For all you Core Wellness Garden Cast lovers…Here's a BIG DOSE of early spring action in our back yard no till garden!

  • You'll hear our 5 year old share deep philosophy and share his infectious laugh.
  • You'll see cold frames and mini green houses in action for year round growing and harvesting of dark leafy greens.
  • AND…You'll learn how a no till garden can create more mineralized plants for a more alkaline garden and therefore a more alkaline body environment!

Remember that hormones and vitamins only work if the pH of your body is right.  An acid enviroment from too much grain and meat (especially grain fed, factory farm animals) means less effective biochemical reactions in your body which leads to low energy, weight gain, and degenerative diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes to name a few.

So watch intently and let me know what you think of these GardenCasts…MORE or LESS.

Also let me know what kind of content that I've put out so far is your favorite!  I want to serve you best.  So drop me your feedback in the comments below!

The Most Powerful Anti-Inflammatory, Alkaline Foods On Earth! (GardenCast)

In addition to being one of my favorite things in the world to do, gardening in cool weather makes the most powerful foods on the planet! GREENS!!!

My mantra to all my clients and students is "More Green, Less Grain" because the bottom line is this…green food by its very nature is ANTI-INFLAMMATORY!

You CAN heal from serious degenerative disease as well as get rid of allergies, asthma, chronic pain, fatigue, colds, flu, bronchitis, and just about any dis-ease known to human kind with this powerful stuff!

Humor me and yourself for a week or so and eliminate all grains from your diet and replace those calories with a dark green leafy salad (NO ICEBERG, OK?).

Get some mixed greens and some romaine and go to town!

Another way to flood your cells with these intense anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory alkaline nutrients is to juice them or put them in a green smoothie.

Here's a quick recipe even your kids will like!

  • 1 large green apple
  • 5 to 10 pineapple chunks
  • BIG bunch of Kale or Spinach or mix of both
  • half an avocado
  • half a lemon
  • 4 OR 5 ice cubes
  • fill with water to just about the top Blend THOROUGHLY!

Drink up and feel the POWER!!!! As your palate develops to really enjoy the taste of green food, you can cut back on the sweet stuff to lower the insulin response and you'll be AMAZED at the increased energy and vitality you feel!

Try it and let me know how you do by leaving a comment below!

See you next time!
