WHY and HOW To Fix Crossed Posture (Demo Workshop Recorded Live)

Last Tuesday was the second event in a Holistic Medicine community awareness project I'm part of (along with 2 other M.D.'s and a D.O.) called  "Pathways To Individual Health"
 
I took my segment and posted the entire video for you below so you can stay up to date!
 
As you'll see…my computer bonked out as I started giving my talk.  Honestly, I think it was a blessing and made the talk more practical and more importantly FUN!  But I'll let you decide :-)
 
Here are some of the important concepts I share:
  • The importance of paying your "Tissue Debt" (or else it ends up creating pain or symptoms you can't ignore)
  • The "Bowling Ball on a stick" awareness exercise (you'll understand immediately why you have to put out energy against the downward and inward pull of gravity!)
  • Why the THOUGHT of the movement when you exercise is sometimes more important than the actual movement itself! (Get the image in your mind and the brain gets to work rewiring behind the scenes!)
  • Why a 36 inch x 6 inch foam roll is your best friend against the upper body "hump back" (with a simple example of how to use it)
  • The key to activating your deep core muscles so your big outer muscles don't have to overwork and cause you pain!
  • Why a properly executed lunge exercise can be the secret to long term back pain relief (actually it's great for knees, hips, and even upper body issues, too, but the focus in this talk was on relieving back pain.)
  • A very simple "biofeedback" method you can use to test yourself to make sure you can BREATHE like you were designed (plus WHY if you breathe shallowly, it leads to pain, trigger points, and muscle fatigue!)

How a Rainy Day, Insulin, and Stressful Thoughts Cause Crossed Posture Syndrome

During my walk in the rain this morning I felt strangely empowered by a gloomy rainy Monday morning.  So I grabbed my bloggie and shared some of the feelings I was having from the gazebo.

Common Pain Drugs More Dangerous Than Previously Thought

Ibuprofen and Other Anti-Inflammatory Pain Medications Raise Cardiovascular Risk More Than Previously Thought

As the recent alarming study published in the renowned British Medical Journal reveals, to use over the counter and prescription non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids) should only be used for short periods of time because the surprising risk of doubling and nearly quadrupling risk of heart disease and stroke!

During an interview with Medscape Medical News, senior investigator Peter Jüni, MD, from the University of Bern in Switzerland, said his team expected to see an increased risk but was surprised by the magnitude of the signal. "We never thought we'd see 2- and 4-fold increased risks," he said. "The doses were admittedly high," he pointed out, "however, this is clearly clinically relevant."

Conclusions from the BMJ study: Although uncertainty remains, little evidence exists to suggest that any of the investigated drugs are safe in cardiovascular terms. Naproxen seemed least harmful. Cardiovascular risk needs to be taken into account when prescribing any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

This is one repeating story that shows us…yet again…that covering up pain and inflammation with drugs is a losing battle.

The pain is there to tell you to CHANGE something in your life.  Most of the time, it's simply joint and muscle overload caused by inefficient and damaging movement patterns and Crossed Posture Syndrome. 

But it can also be your nutrition, your emotions, your job, your relationship, your finances, your toxic home environment, dehydration……you name it.  If it's stressful to you, it can cause pain and disease!

7 Raw Food Lessons Learned From Matt Monarch and Angela Stokes-Monarch

As many of you may know, Core Wellness and the Louisville Area Raw Food Meetup Group hosted 100% raw food authors and celebrities for a 4 hour "Raw Food Transformation" talk this past Saturday.

We also hosted Matt and Angela in our home for 3 nights and got to be on their "The Raw Food World TV Show" 2 days in a row!  I've posted the episodes below for your entertainment and education!

 

Only 1 or 2 of the 53 health seekers in attendance were close to 100% raw and most were there to investigate this philosophy as a way to reverse disease, lose weight, and reach a higher level of health consciousness.

And although I've thrown myself into learning as much as I can about the healing benefits of raw food and I had read Matt's "Raw Spirit" book, I still came away with some AWESOME take homes…

Here they are….

1. It's not about going 100% right off the bat…unless you are under life threatening circumstances you should do what you can do successfully, even if that is simply cutting out enriched flour products and refined sugar and adding in a green smoothies every day. 

2. The biggest health improvements come from not what you ADD but what you ELIMINATE COMPLETELY!  e.g. white flour products, sugar, and factory farm animal products.

3. Never get into a bath with a dog that has canine scabies!!!! (what a story that was!)

4. From Angela:  Tip on transitioning – Make everything you eat that's sweet from this day forth RAW (fruit, honey, agave, chocolate, etc.)

5.  From Angela:  BE THE CHANGE and lead by your own actions without pushing your ideas on anyone who doesn't want to hear about it.  When people ask you a question about raw food, answer only THAT question without going on a long diatribe where you overwhelm and therefore, totally lose them.  Let them be their OWN change!

6. You CAN rejuvenate a "non functioning" or "underfunctioning" thyroid.  Angela did it…(as well as losing over 150 lbs!) now thyroid numbers are normal WITHOUT medication.

7. GROW YOUR OWN!!!!

PLUS…My observation of them while staying at home…They Work HARDthey stay focused on their mission

It was an inspiration for me to more CLEARLY develop and communicate the Core Wellness mission, which which led to the new "Crossed Posture Syndrome" clickable picture on the right of this page. 

You MUST become aware of this stress induced muscle imbalance and learn how to reverse it or pay the painful consequences sooner or later!  My mission is to bring some much needed pain relief and inner calm to your body by making you aware of this damaging stress induced posture pattern and give you the fundamentals on how to correct it!

I'm so grateful that Matt contacted me to make this experience happen and look forward to learning and teaching more about the scientific reasons why raw food and a predominantly plant based conscious diet can transform cellular health and take your body back in time!
